Directions to Inn Deep at Desert’s

Before you leave your country purchase an International Drivers License. It is a good idea to have a car and motorcycle endorsement. Many toursists do this journey by motorcycle which is far cheaper on the ferry.

Lombok is a relatively close hop from Bali. Some tourists rent a Jeep or Kijang in Bali and travel to Lombok and Sumbawa.  A second option, which I prefer, is to fly to Lombok and rent on Lombok.  Either way it is nice to have the freedom a car brings. Rental rates are a bit cheaper on Bali however the fare to get on the Ferry will probably negate any savings.

From the Kuta area in Bali drive to Padang Bai which is the harbor where the ferry leaves for Lombok. The drive is about an hour down a new road that bypasses many famous surf spots on Bali’s east coast. In Padang Bai purchase your ferry ticket and drive onto the ferry. The ferry is about 4 – 7 hours depending on the conditions and the line to board.

After arriving at Lembar Harbor on Lombok proceed toward Mataram for a minute or two. Take the first right that hugs the coastline. This is the road to Sekotong and Inn Deep. Travel down this road for about 45 minutes hugging the coast and you will reach Inn Deep. A shorter route goes through the mountain. If you take this route follow the path that is most travelled.

From Lombok Airport proceed to Lembar Harbor. Minutes before you arrive at the Harbor you will see the road to Sekotong. Take a left turn onto this road and hug the coast until you reach Inn Deep. This trip takes about an hour and a half.
